Covid-19 & 2020 Membership Fees

Following yesterday’s decision by the Committee to keep the outdoor facilities closed for the time being, it was also agreed to amend the Membership Fee structure for the 2020 season.

Members will be invited to renew or join Burridge CC to a) support the Club financially at this difficult time and b) ensure the Club is able to operate throughout 2020 and beyond.

Although recreational cricket is currently suspended, the Club does have on-going costs to meet i.e. annual insurance, ground preparation & maintenance etc..

The agreed memberships fees for 2020 are summarised below and amended 2020 Membership Application/Renewal Forms are posted on the Club’s website:

  • Adult Playing Membership (male & female) – £20
  • U18 Playing Membership (male/female/full-time education) – £10
  • Colts U9 Playing Membership (male & female) – £10
  • Colts U11 – U15 Playing Membership (male & female) – £10
  • Non – Playing Membership (male & female) – £20

Any voluntary donations and/or additional subscriptions to the 200 Club will help ensure our Club is able to offer cricket once the threat from Covid-19 has reduced to allow recreational cricket to restart.

As soon as it is safe for team cricket to resume, all members selected to play in a Burridge CC team will be asked to pay an additional match fee (to be agreed) for the remainder of the 2020 season.

Also, a small number of playing members had renewed/joined the Club before the Covid-19 lockdown started; therefore the following options are available:

  • Playing membership fees already paid will apply for 2020 and be carried forward to the 2021 season or
  • Playing membership fees already paid can be refunded on request and the amended fees above will apply on renewing for 2020

Naturally, we are all disappointed that the Covid-19 Pandemic is preventing Burridge CC from offering its excellent cricket facilities to all members at this current time. We will keep matters under review once further announcements are made by the ECB.

Best wishes.

UPDATE – COVID 19

Return to Activity in a Cricket Club Setting

On the 15th May 2020, the ECB issued detailed guidance notes to all clubs on the return to use of Cricket grounds and their facilities. This document highlights the requirements that would need to be in place and strictly enforced to enable clubs to reopen and ensure that those visiting can do so safely and inline the current public health guidelines.

Based on the information provided and in conjunction with our local knowledge of the club and its setting, it became apparent that the club would NOT be able to fulfil these requirements.

Therefore, the Committee has made the decision to defer the opening of the facilities at this stage until further notice

Although disappointing to us all, this means that the cricket club remains closed and no members should visit the ground for any purpose including outside exercise or net practise.

Hopefully some good news will be with us all in the coming weeks which will allow the committee to reconsider our current stance on the use of “The Ridge”.

Regards

The Committee

Suspension of activities due to Covid-19

In the light of government directives, Burridge Cricket Club has ceased all training, games and social events for the time being.

We hope to be operational again very soon, which would mark the recovery of the country from this pandemic.

In the meantime, please stay safe and we wish you, your family and friends all the very best during this testing time.

Winners – Hampshire Cricket Board Indoor Cup

On Saturday 22nd February, Burridge men’s indoor team competed in the semi-final and final of the Hampshire Cricket Board Indoor Cup Competition at the Ageas. In the semi-final they played a spirited Chandlers Ford and Compton team. Burridge set a total of 120-4 having been 70-4. CF and C chipped away and only came up 10 runs short.

In the final Burridge faced another young side in Hook and Newham. Burridge performed much better with the bat and set a target of 148. Burridge remained in control throughout and won comfortably. See scorecard.

Burridge qualified for the finals by competing in and winning the South Hants Indoor Cricket League. In recent years they have won the league in 16/17, 17/18 and 18/19 and are currently top in the 19/20 season. They have also won the cup competition for the last two years, 17/18 and 18/19.

Their success in the HCB Indoor finals earned them a place in the last 32 of the National competition and a match against Wimbledon CC, the Surrey Cup winners, the following day. Two of the more regular players, Stanners and Rich Kenway had returned from their hols and were available for the Sunday fixture.

It was a good toss to win. It was obviously a new venue for the team, a solid wall sports hall unlike the softer boundaries at Fleming Park or The Ageas. Burridge chose to bowl. Dan Stancliffe and Sully White bowled the first four overs, very tight and speedy. Dan bowled one wicket and then Andy Peck took another in the 5th. 23-2 off 5. Scoring was either difficult or the bowling good. There appeared to be very few opportunities to run three. None of the Wimbledon batsmen ever looked comfortable and the wickets fell at regular intervals. Andy took another Brad Griffiths took two and there was one run out. It was all over in the 10th, Wimbledon all out for 52.

Richard Kenway and Suji Wickramasinghe opened for Burridge. A steady pace, the target per over was simple if they kept wickets in hand. No real scares and the pair chipped away with the bonus of the odd extra. The meagre target was reached in 7 overs and one ball for the loss of no wickets. Everyone in the team played their part.

Burridge have now qualified for the London and South East finals at Canterbury on 8th March where they will play Purley-on-Thames from Berkshire in the first semi-final. Should they win two matches they will qualify for the National finals at Lords. Good luck and COTR.
